i made this masque at a pow wow outside of Portland, OR in '03, and then proceeded to wear it in over 20 solo interactions across the u.s.a. Read about and view more related images at:

in my view, this intuitive process-ing is all about getting back in meaningful touch with our pre-colonized and decolonizing selves. It's also about a kind of resurgence, tho as a descendant of european tribes, such a resurgence may be very different from a resurgence by indigenous folks from the u.s./canadian sides of mOm eaRth, simply because we euros have often so totally forgotten and lost our traditions (in which to sort our depth spirits into and make use of such meaning)...
One thing i *do* know, is that we euros haven't been as deeply set upon (as a general group, anyway) by today's gov'mints (yet) and so our general privilege (and much deeper domestication, by and large) and our resultant desires for the kind of change we seek will be largely different than those who want nothing to do with colonizer values...
