Hopi vs. Casino

Hopi stop Casino...

The Hopi Nation just over a month ago voted against a Casino being built. It would have been 2 hours away from their res. on I40 that would have brought in an estimated 27 mil.$'s in a year. Wow... A blessed sister was the main contributor in getting the voting youth involved. Imagine what they said no too finacially and materialy and what they said yes too spiritualy... The healing has begun and the new world in here waiting for us...

i've had this topic of discussion at one of my mother boards.

i agree the hopi are in the front line and need to be an example, come hell or high water, that is the agreement. i certainly wish the rez life would be more involved, seems like many are trapped between worlds, mainly the younger gen, high school to early 20's.

my tribe is on the verge of a possible casino as resolution to some of the 18 broken treaties. we have already established a template much the same as the yaqui nation runs theirs.

this is a highly sensitive issue, not just spiritually, but politically and karmically (both ends of the deal)

hopi tribal council have worked hard on determining how to take action. it was never a simple plan, but i agree, a wise choice.

Passamaquoddy just turned down a casino also, now they are tring to stick the biggest natural gas facility in the NE there. All due to the special status regarding soviergnt allows wealthy interest to railroad changes through small, remote constituentcies without regard for state of federal laws or regulations.
